Online Intensive Program
Learn Finance & Investment Concepts Online at Your Own Pace
Building on the GWI Intensive Program’s curriculum, our Online Intensive Program (OIP) is a tuition-free, self-guided learning experience that helps students build a solid foundation in core finance and investment concepts at their own pace.
Self-starters are expected to complete online modules from our leading educational partners, which have historically included CFA Institute, Wall Street Prep, and Wharton Online*. The program is designed for completion from winter through summer while undertaking an independent internship, summer job, or other full-time endeavor.
Learn
OIP is a flexible education program designed to help you develop key skills needed for success in the investment industry. During the program, you will have the opportunity to:
Complete a curriculum of industry-recognized modules
Work independently to learn and refine your skills at your own pace
Collaborate with other Scholars through assigned study pods
Build relationships through GWI community events
Interact with GWI staff through coffee chats
View panels of industry professionals focused on key topics and sectors

The application for our 2026 programs is now closed. Applications for 2027 programming will be available in late summer 2026.
Program Requirements
The GWI Online Intensive Program is open to first-years and sophomores enrolled in or transferring to a four-year U.S. or U.S.-style colleges or universities.

Timeline
The program runs from winter through summer. Online Intensive Program participants must complete modules by the respective due dates in order to advance to subsequent modules. The approximate timeline for the 2026 OIP is as follows:

Late summer 2025: Application opens for 2026 Program
Fall: Rolling application review and admissions decisions
October 1: Final GWI Intensive Program application deadline
Mid-November: Final admission decisions released to applicants
December 1: GWI Intensive Program unified curriculum begins
Late winter/spring 2026: GWI-facilitated internship matching process for select OIP participants alongside ongoing curriculum
Late Spring: Transition into OIP Modules (Order TBD)
Spring/summer: Continuation of educational modules
June - Mid-August: Internships for select OIP participants
September 2026: Program close

Scholars not matched with internships will transition from the GWI Intensive Program’s unified curriculum into the Online Intensive Program’s modules in spring. In some cases, Scholars on the internship track may also transition into the Online Intensive Program at that time. As the program is presented in distinct modules, we will provide a specific deadline for each module of the program. Within those modules, you will be able to work at your own pace to complete the assignments. The program will run through August 2026. Please note that these deadlines, as well as the curriculum offered, are subject to change.

Students must successfully complete several separate online modules in investment management. In past years, these modules have included programming from CFA Institute, Wall Street Prep, and Wharton Online.
Over the course of the program, OIP Scholars will be introduced to peers through various platforms. Participants can largely set their own pace, but must successfully complete each module and exam before assigned deadlines in order to progress through the program.
Upon successful completion of the program, OIP Scholars receive a certificate of completion for inclusion on their resumes or LinkedIn profiles and join the robust GWI Alumni community.

Historically, students have been able to finish modules early and move on to the next module ahead of schedule. However, we cannot guarantee access to any module outside of the timeline provided here.

The OIP is fully subsidized by Girls Who Invest. There are no costs involved for participants.

For most participating Scholars, the curriculum will progress into the Online Intensive Program (OIP), which is designed to be an educational experience. GWI will also facilitate internship matches for a small number of OIP participants among those selected to be on the internship track, pending internship availability at Partner firms. Work authorization will be required for the majority of internships taking in the United States, as determined by Partner firm policies. Please note these opportunities are typically limited and vary from year to year.

Absolutely! Many of our past OIP participants have participated in the OIP while maintaining full-time internships. Since the OIP is self-guided and asynchronous, it is possible to manage your coursework and your internship responsibilities.
